– States Bordering the Gulf of Mexico or Pacific Ocean: These states are known for their seafood for obvious reasons. With fresh fish at their fingertips, it’s no wonder you can get some killer tacos anytime you are around the coast.
– Southeastern Mexico: Here you will find that they love spicy foods and eat many dishes that are centered around chicken. Maize or corn tortillas are more common in this area rather than flour.
– Central Mexico: Some of the most famous Mexican meats are found in central Mexico. This includes barbacoa, carnitas, menudo and pozole.
– North of Mexico: This region is most known for its beef dishes as well as goat dishes. You will also find that flour tortillas are most commonly used in the Northern region as well.
What Drinks are Popular in Mexico
All good Mexican cuisine isn’t complete without some drinks to wash it down with. Mexican cuisine is most known for its beers and tequilas to pair with your favorite dish. Tequila is most commonly served as a margarita with salt and lime. Mezcal is a cruder form of tequila that is usually served with a worm in the bottom. You are supposed to eat the worm after you have finished the drink. Cerveza or Mexican beers, are known all over the world some of the most famous include Corona, Sol, Pacifico and Dos Equis.
