Is there anything better than realizing you have some Mexican leftovers to eat for lunch the day after you have dined at the best Mexican restaurant ever? Many Mexican dishes make fantastic leftovers if you know how to reheat them. Without reheating them the right way, you can be left with soggy or dried out food that tastes less than desirable. Eddie’s Mexican Restaurant is here to share our best tips for heating up the food that you take home from your favorite Mexican restaurant.
How Do You Reheat Meat Without Drying it Out?
Let’s be honest, many of the dishes you enjoy at your favorite Mexican restaurant include some type of delicious protein in them. Knowing how to reheat those meats will either make or break your enjoyment of the leftovers. Even the best sauces can’t cover up meat that you have dried out during the reheating process. There are a couple of reheating options that will help make your leftover meat dishes superb.
– Oven: before you throw your leftovers in the oven, cover them in tin foil. When you cover them in tin foil and let them heat up slowly in the oven, you will find that the delicious juices are kept inside the meat rather than evaporating during the heating process.
– Microwave: Many people don’t have the time it takes to heat the oven and let their leftovers slowly warm up. For them, the microwave can do the job. Just make sure that before you power up the microwave, you get a damp paper towel that has had the excess water rung out of and wrap your meats up in the paper towel. The steam will keep the juices from leaving the meat.
How Do You Reheat Enchiladas?
To warm up enchiladas without them becoming a pile of mush, it is best done using a two-step process. First, you will want to put the plate in the microwave for about 30 seconds. This will start to warm the middle without making the tortilla mush. Then, pop the plate into a toaster over at 300 degrees until the dish is completely warmed up.
Mexican Leftovers for Breakfast?
If you have some delicious meat left over from your Mexican meal the night before and want a protein packed breakfast, we’ve got the solution for you. You will need a couple eggs to scramble and a tortilla to make the perfect breakfast burrito. While scrambling the eggs, you can throw in the meat and heat it up at the same time. When you wrap it all together in your tortilla with your favorite salsa or hot sauce, you will have a breakfast fit for champions.
