Enchiladas VS Burritos VS Loco Red Sauce Cheese Enchilada Stuffed in a Burrito w/ Rice & Beans!

Who doesn’t love sinking their teeth into an authentic enchilada or burrito? These are two of the most popular dishes chosen at any Mexican restaurant. There are some distinct difference between the two dishes and lovers of both of them may argue that one is superior to the other. Eddie’s Mexican Restaurant is here to talk about what differentiates the enchilada from the burrito so that you can decide for yourself which one you think is better suited for you … or maybe try both in the one dish?

How to Make a Burrito

Are you wondering what makes a burrito a burrito? Traditionally, the burrito starts with the tortilla. In most cases a burrito is a flour tortilla that is filled and completely wraps around two or more ingredients. This could be as simple as beans and rice. Other times, it may include your favorite meat, salsas, bean, rice and other fillers. Some variations of the burrito include the San Francisco style burrito that is usually incredibly full of several ingredients; while the California Style burrito debuts a burrito that is complete with French fries and other fillers. Burritos vary in size from large and round to long and skinny, but they are still one of the most beloved Mexican dishes in the country.

What are Smothered Enchiladas?

While burritos are usually made using flour tortillas, enchiladas are made using smaller corn tortillas. Another key difference between the two is the sauce and melted cheese that is often completely covering enchiladas. Enchiladas are also a dish that is always eaten using a fork. They are almost impossible to eat without using your fork, actually. Burritos are often simply picked up and eaten without using any utensils. Part of this is because of the sauce that is involved in one and not the other. Another difference is the fact that there aren’t nearly as many toppings that are filling the inside of enchiladas. They are usually filled with meat and not much else. The burrito is filled using many more toppings traditionally.

Enchilada Loco Burrito

If you love both of these dishes, it may seem impossible to choose between the two of them when you sit down to order at Eddie’s Mexican Restaurant. This is why we have decided to make a dish where the two of them come together. Our Enchilado Locos Burrito features a cheese enchilada soaked in our red sauce, stuffed in a burrito with rice and beans. We offer other loco burritoes too including our relleno burrito, red tamale burrito and fajito burrito. Each of these dishes highlight different favorites and put our own unique spin on them. When you choose these dishes at Eddie’s, you no longer have to choose between the two of them and can enjoy the best of both worlds coming together.
